Popular activities include hiking, horseback riding, camping, and visiting nearby Kaindy Lake, famous for its submerged forest.
After the check-in at a local hotel, we will start exploring the first lake, located at the base of the mountain. We will recharge and have lunch with a magnificent view at the Tary cafe located not too far away. After the meal, there will be an option to head out for the second lake with a 1 km hike and the gentle accession only after halfway off the trail. Or take the opportunity to go for a thematic horse riding instead. After a day full of activities, head back to the hotel to have a well deserved rest and delicious evening meal.
Have breakfast under the quaint panoramic view of the lakes from your hotel before departing for Charyn Canyon, located in Charyn National Park.
Charyn National Park is a striking natural wonder located about 200 km east of Almaty, Kazakhstan. Its centerpiece is the Charyn Canyon, often compared to the Grand Canyon for its dramatic red rock formations, though on a smaller scale. The most famous section, the Valley of Castles, features towering cliffs shaped by wind and water over millions of years.
After the check-in at the local glamping site, we will begin the tour around the park. We will explore the park, including the Temirlik tract, rivers, canyons, depressions, and even see the antelopes, native to the location, if we are lucky. Tary Charyn cafe will be our stopping point for some refreshments and lunch. We will continue our trail through the canyon, taking short breaks for rest and pictures. The dinner will be served at the camp upon our return to the site.
After breakfast at the hotel, we will head to Tamgaly Tas, an ancient open Buddhist air temple.
Tamgaly Tas is a unique cultural and natural site located along the Ili River, about 120 km north of Almaty. It is famous for its centuries-old rock carvings, including striking Buddhist petroglyphs depicting deities, Tibetan inscriptions, and sacred symbols dating back to the 17th century. The site blends spiritual heritage with rugged natural beauty, set against a dramatic backdrop of cliffs and riverbanks.
After the tour of the temple, we will head out to the Nomad Village, a movie set that recreates a turkic town from the middle ages for movies. It's a great opportunity for a photo shoot session and lunch at the location. Upon finishing the meal, you will transfer to Almaty 2 Train Station to take the overnight sleeper train to Astana.
